Jack + Niles = ???
As some of you know, my two favourite shows of all time are Frasier and 24. I watch Frasier all the time - I have the first seven seasons on DVD and refuse to download the later seasons (there are four more to be released) because I like owning them and watching them properly - when it comes to things I love, I hate downloading! But it's fine - I can watch 1-7 over and over again - I like to have it on in the background when I'm doing housework, or I'll watch a couple of episodes when I need to take a mindless study break. As for 24, I'm refusing to watch season 5 on TV here because I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD so that P and I can hibernate for a weekend and watch all 24 episodes of the season back-to-back, as we've always done with all the previous seasons.
So here is my question: Is it strange for the same person to absolutely love Jack Bauer and Niles Crane at the same time?

No it is not strange... Jack is the classic Superhero, and Niles is the hyper-sensitive, neurotic Human Being. How can you not love 'em both?!

Stallion: Yes, to each his own indeed! My taste is quite eclectic! I'm sure most of the women out there would agree with me on Jack, but few would on Niles!
Raine: You're right - they may be polar opposites, but they each represent different aspects of exactly what we look for in the male (I'm tempted to say species) sex. (Although, I suspect it's only us that would appreciate the neurotic side to Niles...) Btw, I didn't invent the concept of blogging about TV so no need to give me credit! :)

24 is great, I watch it just like you do, get the DVD set and dissapear for a few days, taking little breaks for eating and breathing.
I never liked Frasier, but everytime it is on TV, I sit down and watch it and always finish the episode, I guess it is addictive like a bad habit.

It was YOU!!!! who got me hooked on 24! And it was Toomz was the one who gave the DVD's to watch all the seasons! Now I cant wait for season 5 to come out on DVD!!
Anyways, although Jack and Niles are two different personalities, but I understand how u can like them equally at the same time. I think its how they are portrayed on their shows, their role, their character traits that makes you love them. It's not weird at all. They are both unique characters :)

Don Veto: It's the best feeling, just hiding out for like two days, watching the entire season straight - only taking a break to sleep, then wake up, and press play! But I usually find it hard to sleep in the middle of a season - besides thinking through the plot, the sound of the ticking clock (you know what I'm talking about - right before Jack says "Previously on 24") keeps repeating in my head!
JC: What sucks is that the DVDs of season 5 probably won't be out till the fall. In which case I might do the unthinkable and download all 24 episodes so we can do the chalet tradition this summer (if you're nice maybe we'll let you watch with us!).
And about Jack and Niles, yes they're both unique characters but what's strange is that one is superhero and one is supergeek....
