HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You know, I always feel bad for my classmates when they tell me that they've turned such and such over the summer. I feel summer birthdays are a bit more low-key...or are they?
Anyhow, have a good one! Eat cake! Rip open those presents! I'm a big fan of creamy cake...with that shaved chocolate and that amazing whipped cream...My mom's Lebanese friend makes an outrageously yummy Blackforest (without the horrible cherries) and I just want to put my face in it when I see it on lovely occasions :)
Erzulie: Summer birthdays are strange ones. Growing up as a kid, I always had to do my birthday party with school friends either right before everyone left for summer or right after they got back in the fall, which never quite felt right. But we more than made up for it on my actual birthday in August, which was always spent going nuts with our friends in California in Chuck-e-Cheese! My mom would give us what felt like thousands of tokens to go play in the game room for what felt like hours. SKEE BALL!! :)
As a teenager, yeah I imagine it must have sucked. I can't really remember though! In college most people were back by August to relax and party for a couple of weeks before classes started so that was fine. Now that I'm an "adult" (officially closer to 30 - OMG!), it doesn't really make much of a difference anymore. Most of my friends are usually in town, except for this year when Jazz Central and Stallion will be missing my party! :(
"...and I just want to put my face in it when I see it on lovely occasions"--> I swear to god you're related to me and my sisters somehow.
Raine: Where's my text message?? Hehehe. Love you too sweetie. Have you baked my cake yet? :) Hope this year's my best too - I need a good one! 27 is a funky age. It's a prime number - which must mean it's a cool age to be. Like 7, 13, 19, 23 --> all cool ages. I don't know, it means something when you say it, you know? "I'm 26." Nothing. "I'm 27." Wicked.

Nothing profound - this is just a way for me to let my family and friends at home, or at least those who are interested, know what's going on in my daily life while I'm at grad school.
